Buttered Garlic Naan

Hi there,
Naan is an Indian flat bread mostly used as an accompaniment to curries, stews and soups. I even use this as a side to my salads for that extra fill. By the way, Happy New Month, its the first day of my birth month... Whoop Whoop!

If you like pita bread, Jerusalem flat bread (usually used as a wrap for shawarma), you would most likely like the Naan.

You'll need:
Flour- 2 Cups (plus more for rolling)
Yeast- 1 tsp
Baking powder- 1/8 tsp
Olive oil- 2 TBsp
Milk- 2 TBsp
Butter(melted)- 1/2 cup
Garlic- 2 large cloves diced
Salt- 1 tsp
Sugar- 2 tsp
Water- 3/4 Cup

Step 1- Shift flour, baking powder and salt into a large bowl
Step 2- In another bowl, combine warm water, sugar and yeast and allow to sit for about 10 mins or until the surface of the liquid looks frothy.
Step 3- Add milk and olive oil to the frothy liquid and mix well.
Step 4- Add the liquid to the bowl of dry ingredients and start kneading in the bowl or on a clean counter top, until the dough forms a smooth bowl.( This process can be done in the bowl of a standing mixer with a dough hook attachment)
Step 5- Cover the bowl with cling film or a clean tea cloth, let the dough rest in the bowl, in a warm draft free place ( a warm place for me is my turned off oven) until the dough doubles in size.
Step 6- When dough is risen, knead in the diced garlic, divide into six balls on a well floured counter top, the dough would be sticky.
Step 7- Roll out each dough with a floured rolling pin into tear drop shapes. Heat up a non-stick pan, make sure you have a lid to cover the pan.
Step 8- Add melted butter to the piping hot pan, pick up the rolled naan with damp fingers and place on the hot buttered pan, after 1 min, flip the naan and cover the pan for another 1min. The naan should be covered in charred bubbles).
Step 9- Slather each naan with melted butter and its all ready to be enjoyed.

You can enjoy Naan with soups, stews, salads, curries e.t.c, I hope you try this recipe and let me know what you think!
Peace!
